Nanjing Institute of Technology (NJIT) is a general undergraduate university administered directly by Jiangsu Province with centurial history, deep engineering foundation, and distinct characteristics of application-oriented specialties. Serve as a directorial unit of China’s National Special Committee for Applied Undergraduate Colleges and Universities and a vice presidential unit of the National Development Alliance for Applied Graduate Education Universities, NJIT stands among the first pilot universities to enter the “Program for Educating and Training Excellent Engineers” and the “CDIO Engineering Education Reform Program”. Associated with the national pilot zone for innovative models in cultivating electromechanical control talents, NJIT is a national model for the collaborative development of enterprises, universities and research institutions, as well as the typical university experienced in promoting graduate employment of nationwide reputation. Located in the Fangshan Scenic Area of Jiangning District of Nanjing, an ancient and modern city, NJIT boasts a total area of nearly 200 hectares, with a total construction area exceeding 80 hectares, and offers a set of superior facilities for education and teaching activities. Currently, we have 21 educational and teaching departments and over 26,000 full-time students, approximately 1,300 of whom are engaged in postgraduate studies. These students are supported by over 2,100 faculty members, of which 50% are full-time teachers holding doctorate degrees, 53% have senior professional titles, and 260 faculties are high-level talents who receive national special allowances, including experts, distinguished professors, and other outstanding teachers.
南京工程学院是一所具有百年办学历史、深厚工科底蕴、鲜明应用特色的江苏省属高校。2000年6月，由两所国家首批示范性高工专—隶属原国家机械部的原南京机械高等专科学校（办学历史可追溯到1915年上海同济医工学堂附设机师科）和隶属原国家电力部的原南京电力高等专科学校（办学前身是1946年创建的江苏省立苏州高级工业职业学校）合并组建而成，2001年4月隶属原国家核工业部的原南京工业学校并入。 学校始终秉承优良办学传统，传承行业办学经验，坚持“地方性、应用型、高水平、国际化”办学定位，树立“学以致用”的办学理念，发扬“知行统一、创业创新”的校园精神，在全国率先提出“培养应用型人才”，开展“应用型本科教育”，形成了“密切校企合作，注重工程实践，培养应用人才”的鲜明特色，开设了全国高校首个数控技术专业、研制了全球第一台超超临界电力仿真机、培育了中国轨道交通“第一门”、孵化了江苏首个上交所主板上市校资企业康尼机电等多个全国或江苏第一，培养了以中国工程院沈国荣院士为代表的30万余名工程技术和管理人才，在机械、电力、能源动力等行业领域具有很高影响力。2019年时任中共中央政治局委员、国务院副总理孙春兰、江苏省委书记娄勤俭、省长吴政隆等先后莅临学校考察，对学校应用型办学思路与成效给予高度评价。
学校目前是教育部“卓越工程师教育培养计划”和“CDIO工程教育改革”首批试点高校，国家机电控制类人才培养模式创新试验区，全国文明校园，全国产学研合作典型高校，全国毕业生就业典型经验高校、全国创业孵化示范基地，全国高等学校应用型本科院校专门委员会主任委员单位，全国大学生创新创业实践联盟理事长单位，全国应用型高校研究生教育发展联盟副理事长单位，江苏省高教学会应用型本科院校研究委员会主任委员单位，江苏省党建工作先锋高校建设单位，江苏省首批一流应用型本科高校建设单位，江苏省博士学位授予立项建设单位。
学校位于六朝古都南京，坐落在江宁方山风景区，是一所湖光鹭影的现代化、生态型、花园式校园，占地近3000亩，环境优美、设施优越。图书馆建筑面积3.85万平方米，藏书231万册，订阅各类数据库62个，自建特色数据库3个，建有教育部南京大学科技查新站南京工程学院工作站。 学校现有21个教育教学单位，在校生28000余人，其中研究生1500余人，留学生200余人。现有教职工2200余人，具有博士学位专任教师占比66%，具有高级职称专任教师占比55%。现有国家杰青、享受国务院政府特殊津贴专家、中国科协青年人才托举工程入选者、江苏省特聘教授、江苏省教学名师等省级及以上高层次人才336人次，拥有江苏“六大人才高峰”创新团队、江苏省高校科技创新团队、江苏省“青蓝工程”优秀教学团队等高层次人才团队16个。
